A little about the scholarship:
Jim & Michele Stokley started Bayfest in 1999 with proceeds going back into our community. It provided opportunities for local charities and not-for-profit organizations to raise awareness and funds.
In 2009 to celebrate Jim Stokley's life, Bayfest Festival of Performing Arts created a new scholarship in his honour; The Jim Stokley Scholarship. Bayfest has won the ""Best Fundraising" and "Best Souvenir" awards for the "Yellow Hat Campaign" in 2010 and 2011 from Festival and Events Ontario. Since 2009 Bayfest has raised $500,000, going towards the Scholarship with all money entrusted to Lambton College.
A minimum of two scholarships worth $2,500 each (the largest annual scholarships given out at Lambton College) are awarded annually to post secondary students in the Sarnia-Lambton area who have demonstrated involvement in our community, and who show the same characteristics Jim himself valued. It will not simply go to the best student academically, but the one with the biggest heart.
